tuckscool . we'll have to go there. not had fish and chips in weeks.11:29
tucksberwick st. chippy is very good though.11:29
tcolgatenot sure which road the one we went to is actually on, not too good at geography.11:36
tcolgateThe chips are really cool, normal chip thickness, but about double the width, v tasyt, and cracking fish too.11:37

JoronWhat isu p ?12:25
tcolgateNot much it would seem.12:25
Joronas usual running like crazy during the week-end and now it is Monday.12:25
tcolgateyes, I did the most complicate dinner party of my life on saturday, total madness, went quite well though.12:27
JoronI went to OSM (Symphonic Orchestra of Montreal) with my family; Yesterday. A nice series for children to discover a bit classical music. My wife just has a small accident in the indoors parking; but the afternoon was ok.12:31
tcolgateDid your son enjoy it?12:31
JoronYeah good moment; the story is a bird (Loon) which is searching for its song... the orchestra is playing a bit of of everything until the bird is finally finding the right tune.12:33
JoronThe good thing is if you arrived a bit early few musicians are waiting to demonstrate their instrument, cello,  flute, trombone.... harp... and the children could something touched. again Sebastien went to see the cello.12:34
tcolgatecool12:37
JoronYou have to know both children are exposed already to classical music; Sebastien play violon and piano, and Mimi just started. But I decided this year to contribute a bit to "social/artistic" side of Montreal. and this year is OSM. Sebastien and Mimi went to see Nutcracker with my wife and their grandmother.12:38
tcolgatecool. I started learning the piano when I was a kid, absolutely loved it, had to give up though. I'd really like to go back to it.12:39
JoronI purchased 5 years ago a Piono; to give you an idea the piano cost more for the delivery than the pianio itself.12:41
JoronWe have something like "Montreal Recycle" which when somebody wants something and somebody wants to throw away stuff; well the person just go and pick up it. In case of the piano; the piano was on third floor and I have to rent a crane to get the piano... it cost 300$ to move the piano.12:42
tcolgate:) Elextric keybaords and pianos are no substitute though, they aren't the same at all.12:43
JoronSince my wife always wants a piano. It was a good idea at the time.12:44
JoronAgree but Yamaha electic piona are not that bad. I still have my dx-7.12:44
ShortWavew00t12:44

tcolgateI got my girlfriend a clarinet for christmas, I didn't know how much they cost 'til I went into the shop. Still, she was happy, but blimey, they aren't cheap.12:45
ShortWaveJoron: You ever see a Roland FP-1?12:45
JoronI passed to my niece my dx-7.12:45
JoronNope12:46
ShortWaveno?12:46
ShortWaveIf you can find one, that's the thing to get.12:46
tcolgateI've treid a few, my friend has a electric piano, and I used to fiddle with keyboards alot. But I never thought that the feeling of playing comes even close to a real piano, even a dodgey old upright just feels great to play.12:46
JoronBut I very tempted to purchase a straight keyboard for my iMac just for the fun.12:46
ShortWaveA totally beautiful sounding digital piano.12:46
ShortWaveHas the Bose Wave Audio system built into it.12:46
ShortWaveThe grand piano setting was sampled from like 6 seperate steinway pianos or some jazz.12:47
ShortWaveTotally the best sounding digital piano I've ever heard.12:47
ShortWavetcolgate: but you're right, digital pianos don't come close to the feel of a real piano12:48
tcolgateI dont think I'll ever be convinced by them, the physical sensation just isn't there. The keys kind of feel ok, but the actuall feeling when you hit a note isn't even close.12:49
ShortWaveCuz you don't get the vibration feedback in the key12:49
tcolgateyep, also the action is very even, the keys dont tend to have any realy character.12:50
ShortWaveyeah, you don't feel the weight of the hammer12:50
tcolgateI'll get round to taking it all up again one day. I still have a long way to go in failing to learn to play the guutar.12:50
*** Aren has quit IRC12:52
JoronI have to admit I was terrible at piano; I struggle with the music more than anything... but I'm telling you the worst is when you own son could memorise and play as well on violin and on piano the music he just learn the day before (without reading again the music sheets). This is a major blow to start again (I'm afraid if he listen to my futile attempts).12:53
tcolgate:)12:56
Joronbyebye I got to go to work.12:57

tcolgateMy mate Jake was a violin prodigy. He studied at the menuin school for a few years. He didn't pick up a violin for abou 20 years then decided to do a CD for his dad for his brithday. He tthought he was awful, but the rest of us were rather amazed.12:57

tcolgateWho was it that said that a man in an empty room should be a able to determine everything there is to know about hte universe?14:24

cgTobihm, our RC2 tarball looks strange, can't do an RPM from that15:59
tcolgateMhow so?16:01
cgTobishouldn't it contain a folder aqsis-1.2.0 ? instead it contains a folder called dist_aqsis-1.2.0rc216:01
cgTobiwas that intended?16:02
*** ShortWave has quit IRC16:02
*** [2]ShortWave is now known as ShortWave16:02
tcolgateWhat's the tar file called? And yes, I'd expect roughly what you suggested.16:03
tcolgateprobably aqsis-1.2.0rc2/ would be the right thing.16:03
cgTobihttp://download.aqsis.org/stable/tar/aqsis-1.2.0rc2.tar.gz16:04
cgTobiI thought <name>-<version>.tar.gz is kind of like a standart?16:04
tcolgateit is, but generally the rc2 bit would be included too.16:05
cgTobisorry, I mean <name>-<version> for the folders naming16:06
*** cgTobi sets mode: +v ShortWave16:06
tcolgateatleast I prefer it that way, I want it to untar to the same name, but without hte .tar.gz, and I want all releases to have a different name, thats what you normally get.16:06
tcolgatepresonally I prefer the rc2 bit in there, I don't know what the FCP would have to say on the matter.  Basically if they are different rel4eases I want them to untar to different places.16:07
cgTobiwell, at least the spec is broken...need to find some time to fix it16:08
tcolgateI doubt the directory name is intentional, you'll need to wait to hear from paul.16:11
cgTobihm, when I roll my own tarball from current SVN, everything seams fine16:12
